About Anne-Marie Suddreth
Hi, I’m Anne-Marie, a neurodivergent therapist and evaluator with more than 20 years of experience and a deep passion for working with adults exploring ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, and Giftedness.
My work is grounded in both psychological science and lived experience. I combine research-informed assessment with a neuro-affirming perspective that recognizes differences in brain wiring as meaningful variations in how people experience the world.
My goal is to create a space where people feel safe, understood, and genuinely curious about their own minds.
Why I Do This Work
I learned the value of a good therapist early in life.
Having a compassionate guide to help me navigate difficult experiences was priceless. That support sparked my love for psychology and shaped the way I approach my work today.
Now it is my mission to offer the same kind of nonjudgmental, thoughtful support to others, especially people who have spent years feeling misunderstood or overlooked.

My Approach
My work integrates:
-
Current psychological research
-
Neuro-affirming perspectives
-
Thoughtful clinical assessment
-
Lived experience as a neurodivergent person
For many adults, exploring neurodivergence later in life can be both clarifying and emotional. My goal is to help people understand how their brain works in a way that is grounded, compassionate, and empowering.
Alongside my work as a therapist, I spent nearly a decade teaching psychology at the college level. That experience continues to shape my work today. I genuinely enjoy helping people understand how the brain works and how it shapes who we are.
My Story
I come from a long line of smart and quirky people.
I’m also married to one and together we created two more.
In other words, ADHD, Autism, and Giftedness have always been part of my world, even before we had language for it.
Like many people, I didn’t discover my own neurotype until adulthood. Learning that I am AuDHD felt like finding a missing piece of the puzzle, but the path to that understanding wasn’t simple.
When I was growing up, awareness of ADHD in girls was extremely limited. I struggled with executive functioning issues, losing things, forgetting things, feeling scattered and disorganized, but because I did well in school and followed the rules, ADHD was never considered.
My autistic traits were also overlooked. Doctors recognized anxiety and depression, but things like sensory sensitivities, special interests, difficulty relating to peers, and picky eating went largely unnoticed.
Instead, I spent many years trying to learn how to be “normal.”
Like many parents, my own understanding of neurodivergence deepened after one of my children received an autism diagnosis. That experience helped me see my own brain in a new light.
Understanding my neurotype opened the door to significant growth and healing.
A Different Way to Think About Neurodivergence
I often describe my experience like this:
It’s like discovering that you are a shade-loving tropical plant living in a sunny desert.
The environment you grew up in may have worked well for others, but it wasn’t designed for your needs.
When we understand our neurotype, we can start creating environments and strategies that help us thrive instead of constantly trying to adapt ourselves to a system that doesn’t fit.

My Mission
Providing neuro-affirming psychological services is deeply meaningful to me.
It is a privilege to help people better understand themselves and their minds.
Each assessment and therapy relationship is an opportunity to increase awareness and appreciation for the many different ways human brains can work.
One person at a time, that understanding can make the world a little more supportive for neurodivergent people.
